#468 Surrendering! a Zen perspective Oct 30 23

Surrender: Zen meaning
Surrendering has many negative attributes:

  1. The feeling of losing something that you don’t want to lose.
  2. Or getting want we don't want
  3. It also implies defeat, giving up, being  coward, failing to rise to the challenges of life,   becoming lethargic, poor social image, and so on. Our ego hates to surrender.

As far Zen is concerned, to surrender means something entirely different, if not, the opposite

It does not mean to give up whatever situation you find yourself in, and to do nothing about it.

To surrender is the simple but profound wisdom skill that Zen called “yielding “ rather than resisting, especially when there is nothing you can do about it ……..which is most of the cases.

Surely you will hurt your ego, and creates temporary suffering from the frustration of surrendering          but yielding to the situation which means accepting what you don’t want to accept represents  a giant step towards serenity. Surrendering is an integral part of Awakening. Thanks
